The Challenge
A vital community resource had outgrown its website.
Mercer Street Friends serves people throughout Mercer County with programs focused on food security, family support, and education.
Its existing website had become slow, outdated, and increasingly difficult for the organization’s team to manage. Just as importantly, the site needed to serve very different audiences — from someone looking for food assistance to a donor looking to give, a volunteer looking to help, or a family trying to understand available programs.
With a growing amount of information, programs, news, events, and resources to organize, Mercer Street Friends needed a website that could make all of that easier to navigate without losing sight of the organization’s mission.
The Solution

We rebuilt the Mercer Street Friends website from the ground up on a custom WordPress foundation, creating a modern, accessible experience around the organization’s programs and the different reasons people visit the site.
Food, Family, and Education provide a clear structure for exploring services and programs, while prominent pathways to Find Food, Donate, and Volunteer help visitors quickly reach some of the site’s most important destinations.
The redesign also gave Mercer Street Friends a stronger platform for communicating its mission, sharing news and events, recognizing partners, and helping supporters find ways to get involved.
Behind the scenes, we created a flexible content-management system that makes it easier for the Mercer Street Friends team to manage programs, publish updates, add events, and keep important information current without relying on a complicated page builder.
Accessibility, responsive design, performance, and usability were considered throughout the project to help ensure the website works for the broad community Mercer Street Friends serves.
